Camping Bundle - Herbalore Special

$28.00

Have you ever entered a National Park that has no roads? If you answer yes, you may have gone to Isle Royale, in northwest Lake Superior.

David and I just returned from six days of hiking, camping and plant identification at the least visited National Park. Revitalizing describes my days of hiking through the wilderness, observing plants and water. The island is 45 miles long and just ten miles across, so with endurance, you can hike and camp through the entire island.

Decades of fascination with plants, brings recognition of my green terrestrial and arboreal friends wherever I travel. Blueberries, thimbleberries, bunchberries and bearberries dotted our paths as we hiked mile after mile on Isle Royale.

Isle Royale is part of an archipelago of nearly 400 islands and is known for their moose population. Wolves used to keep their population in check, but because the water on Lake Superior does not freeze regularly now so the wolf population has decreased to twelve, while there are 500-1500 moose. We heard a moose very close, but did not see it. We were lucky to see and experience otter, beaver, a Northern Goshawk, and a very near nest of young bald eagles.

For years, I would include the Persons Field Guide to Medicinal Herbs on my camping trips. This was not an option on a backpacking trip! Luckily, there are so many plants I know well, and included them in my teapot for a couple nights. (I would never pick from a small population- only those with a substantial colony.) My tea was made with American mint, self heal and red clover. Luckily I brought along two of my salves, the Herbal First Aid and the Cooling Calendula, which I appreciated after bumping into wild parsnip in my garden. The First Aid salve was useful for my blistered toe.

In honor of these plants and products, We offer you 20% off the two salves, Herbal First Aid and the Cooling Calendula Salve and a tea featuring red clover, To Your Health Tea. This is a $28 value for $22.40. Get yours today and be prepared for your next outing!
