On Saturday, October 10, the new moon is exact at 10:50 in the morning — and you'll be standing in the field when it happens.
The days around a new moon are the traditional window for roots and bark, when a plant's energy has drawn down and inward instead of pushing up toward leaf and flower. It is why this farm has planted and harvested by the moon's cycles since 1987, and it's why this particular Saturday is the one we chose.
We're opening the gardens to twenty-five people. Bring your pruners. Take home up to eight pounds.

A NOTE ON FROST
If a frost or freeze arrives before October 10, some tender herbs will be taken back to the earth. Frost is traditionally said to concentrate the roots and barks — so what we lose above ground, we gain below. Fingers crossed Mother Nature holds off for this one.
Either way, the day happens. What's available shifts with the weather, which is true of every harvest that ever was.
Certified organic since 1990. One hundred thirty acres in the Baraboo Bluffs. You won't find a purer place to gather your herbs.
Twenty-five spots. When they're gone, they're gone — this is the only harvest day we're holding this fall.
